Krapp’s Last Tape, by Samuel Beckett, was presented September 10-19, 2015, in what was intended to be a one-off production. The experience went well enough, however, that we decided to form a new company dedicated to producing the kind of theatre that we loved, but felt was underrepresented in Memphis theatre offerings. It was performed at Voices of the South, in conjunction with Beckett’s short “Ohio Impromptu.”
A mysterious figure reads a story of loss from a book, as another regulates the reading with a series of knocks on the table.
Krapp’s Last Tape
Krapp, celebrating his 69th birthday, listens to a tape recording he made on his birthday 30 years ago. He interacts with the recording, makes a new one for this birthday, and finally goes back to revisit the past one more time.
